Call for Artists - Garden Gallery

Saturday, 06 June 2009 09:36
The call for artists for Garden Gallery 2009 has now closed.

ImageAs part of our summer of activities the Garden Gallery is now open.

Currently in its second year, GG’09 is an interactive art space that takes place during the Edinburgh Art Festival, the International Festival and the Fringe 2009.

For those that don’t know about the project the exhibition format is non-gallery based. Local residents play an active role as ‘hosts’ and the participation between artist and hosts is a key element of the project.

This year artists will be asked to work with a group of the hosts to produce a artwork - artists are encouraged to think out of the garden into the community. The project will examine how artists can contribute to communities both public and private through contemporary art.

Selected artists will have an interest or history of engaging with host communities to create stimulating, though provoking artworks that can be produced in a variety of medium.

Currently three commissions are available with a project fund of £1000.00 for each work. A presentation of artwork to hosts and the wider community will take place on 27 August with work in progress being displayed in Portobello from the 22 August to 5 September.

Artists should have a dynamic approach to engaging the local audience.

To register interest, please send six images (jpgs) of current work and a short artists statement by email to gardengallery@amberroome.co.uk
