Matt Cook, hosted Jenny Kinsley @ Regent Street

Brought together in a performance in two parts, Matt’s sound map of Portobello explores the area and noises within the Garden Gallery. With an interest in different rhythmic patterns and how they interact, Matt’s work with sound aims to find these structures, pin them down and locate their mundane beauty.

Ceramic work by the host Jenny Kinsley will also be on display

Title of work - Portobello Sound Map

Portobello Sound Map is a project to create a map of the ambient soundscape particular to Portobello upon the garden of one of its residents. Matt Cook will spend a day in Portobello recording sounds and talking to local residents about what sounds might be found. Matt will bring the sounds he has recorded together for a short performance incorporating a variety of sound makers, during which he will attempt to use the geography of the garden to create a sonic map of the district.
