Big Things on the Beach is a long term initiative and the Trustees have recently identified the main strands of activity that we want to carry forward in the next few years.
These include:
- Continuing to organise residencies of varying lengths and at different times of the year to enable established and emerging artists from Scotland and elsewhere to undertake cutting edge work of many kinds.
- Working with the various developers in Portobello, especially the City Council, to create permanent works of art as a part of the general improvement of Portobello Beach and the surrounding area.
- Developing an idea for displaying appropriate existing works of art from the reserve collections of the National and Edinburgh art galleries in private and public sites along the Promenade.
- Creating opportunities for local people to become more involved in developing Big Things activities.
