Marion Smith, 'Grid Point'

Sculpture at Tyrebagger

The inspiration for Marion Smith’s work at Kirkhill has come from various sources observed in the north east of Scotland, such as doocots, beehives and farm implements. Her fifteen foot high, four sided tower-like structure refers to agricultural, architectural and nautical images. It is made from Scots pine prepared in local sawmill on the Dunecht Estate. Marion made Grid Point at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop in Lumsden, Aberdeenshire.
