Portobello Public Art Talks

In the run up to next year's activities Big Things is organizing a series of artists talks. The first talk is by Ruth Barker, artist and web editor for Public Art Resource + Research Scotland. At the launch Damian Killeen, chair of Big Things on the Beach, will give a brief update on plans for future public art activities in Portobello.

Date: Thursday 4 December 2008, 7.30 – 9.00pm

Venue: Indoor Bowling and Leisure Centre – upstairs café/bar (accessible; bar available) - Promenade @ the bottom of Westbank Street (map)

Speaker: Ruth Barker, artist and web editor for the Public Art Resource + Research Scotland (PAR+RS)

Topic: An overview of public art practice in Scotland - its past, its present, and the possibilities for its future. Ruth will also speak about her own work and introduce PAR+RS and how it can be used.

Read more... Big Things on the Beach is a local arts trust in Portobello, Edinburgh. It was formed by a group of residents in 2003 to explore the potential of the Beach in Portobello as a site for the creation and display of public art works by established and emerging artists in Scotland.
